βœ… Version 1.0 – March 2025

The original release of the Kairuhs cockpit display marked a new level of realism for RC FPV avionics.

  • Bench Test Demo (Feb 2025):
Our first video introduced menu navigation, the warning system, and splash screen behavior.
    • 6 customizable warnings: Voltage, Current, Speed, Stall, High Altitude, Low Altitude
    • Warnings flashed as large red boxes with black bold text (e.g. LOW ALT, CURRENT)
    • All thresholds were user-defined and could be enabled or disabled
    • Warning settings and units persisted across reboots
  • Telemetry Displayed:
    • Altitude, Speed, Roll & Pitch Ladder, Compass, Heading, RTH Arrow
    • Vario meter, Satellite count (green symbol at 7+ sats)
    • Distance to Home
    • Speed tape with color-coded zones
    • Red β€œX” drawn across indicators when MAVLink is disconnected
    • Super Tucano–inspired MFD showing:
      • Current, Power, Throttle, Flight Mode
      • Attitude (Roll, Pitch, Yaw)
      • Flaps (Up / Half / Down), Gear (Up / Down)
      • Battery: Cell voltage, Total voltage, Cell count
  • Menu Options:
    • Adjust speed/altitude units: MPH/KPH/Knots and Feet/Meters/Yards
    • Brightness adjustment
    • Settings stored via Preferences
    • Controlled via plug-in button module
  • Known Bugs (V1):
    • Menu briefly showing after splash
    • Distance to home showing large values when not armed

πŸ“Ή Field Test

We followed with a field test video and then the full reveal.
πŸ“Ί Kairuhs Artificial Horizon FPV Cockpit Display – Features, Setup, and RC Plane Flight Demo w/OpenIPC

  • Demonstrated live telemetry via MAVLink (INAV β†’ UART)
  • Introduced both PFD (Garmin G1000–style AHI HUD) and MFD (Tucano style MFD) layouts
  • Showed hardware, wiring, setup, and full flight demonstration

Note: V1 used 3.3V to power displays (per manufacturer recommendation) β€” which resulted in poor sunlight visibility.

πŸ”„ Version 1.1 – April 2025, Refinement Begins

  • Fixed V1 bugs (splash/menu glitch, unarmed distance bug)
  • Added screen rotation
  • Introduced AP Wi-Fi config mode (hold BOOT during power-on/reset)
  • Removed legacy menu system
  • Added RC channel assignment & inversion for:
    • Throttle
    • Flaps
    • Gear
    • Flight Mode
  • Added new Full Compass layout
  • Began modding boards to run displays at 5V for better brightness

πŸ–₯️ Version 1.2 – MAY 2025, Expanded Screen Support

  • Added support for screen size:
    • 1.14″ (135×240)
  • MFD now displayed on 1.14″ screens with:
    • RSSI
    • Remaining battery %
    • mAh used
  • Fixed pitch/horizon sync issue
  • Began producing boards with:
    • Horizontal connectors (for compact installs)
    • Solder pads for direct FC connection

βš™οΈ Version 2.0 – JULY 2025, Major Hardware + Radar + REFLEX HUD

  • Introduced new hardware design:
    • Removed button module
    • Added LoRa port
    • Integrated support for HUD + radar inspired by Ace Combat games
  • New Features:
    • Support for 3 or 4 screens
    • Real-time radar module with LoRa-based pilot tracking
    • Assignable screen roles (PFD, MFD, HUD, Radar)
    • Individual screen rotation
    • Added fuel gauge layout for more scale realism

πŸ›©οΈ Radar System Features

  • Adjustable radar range
  • Real-time display of:
    • LoRa link status
    • Satellite count
    • Radar distance
    • Vehicle & Pilot IDs
  • Menu controls for:
    • Max target range
    • Sim spawn rate / max sim count
    • Friendly/enemy team assignment
    • Display modes: Friendly / Hostile / Both / Off
    • Pursuit tuning (aggressiveness, chase speed, turn rate, loop agility, etc.)
    • Target labels: Show ID, distance, altitude, etc.
    • “Eject Factor” for sim drop-off behavior

Note: This radar system is in active beta and evolving.

✨ Version 2.1 – JULY 2025, HUD Improvement + LED BOOST PROTOTYPE + FIELD TEST

  • Introduced shiftable reflex HUD layout for 1.14″ displays
  • HUD includes:
    • Pitch Ladder
    • Speed
    • Altitude
    • Heading
    • Roll Indicator
    • AHI (Attitude Horizon Indicator)

We designed a DIY HUD using bright LEDs, a beam splitter, and a Fresnel lens β€” excellent reflection at night; partial daylight performance with boosted LED brightness.
